Getting up into the saddle felt like it was his destiny, as the horse seemed to love him and his armour proved no hindrance. He sat and watched some of the others messing around in the dirt.
His charge was only average, no records would be set, but it was in the right direction and just barely fast enough to be fit for purpose. He braced the weapon...
...and obliterated the target in one solid hit! Wood exploded everywhere and he reflected that that never would have happened if they'd been using some solid Ironwood.
Unfortunately he was still grandstanding about his brilliant strike when the rock hit him, and he turned to give the steward a furious look. It didn't do any damage, his skull was too sturdy for that. It just put a dampener on an otherwise great performance.
Still, he manner to find Kevan amongst the crowd and threw him a nod, they had both done pretty well today.
