Gossip & Rumours
The bread and butter of day-to-day life at the courts in Westeros is the gossip that passes from person to person. Rumours pass between nobles and smallfolk alike with rapid speed. The most common of these rumours will be posted in the daily calendar thread.

How to Spread Gossip
Starting a rumour is handled as a Simple Intrigue with an objective of Deceit against a starting disposition of Indifferent. Next choose your method of gossip - Deception or Persuasion - and Technique; there is no restriction as to which method and technique you choose but the chosen method and technique will flavour the rumour as it becomes public. The target Intrigue Defense is equal to your target's Status x 4.

Starting a rumour does not take a full time slot.

How to Track Down Gossip
When a rumour is posted, it will include a "Defense" rating; the higher this value, the more difficult it will be to track down the source of the rumour. If the character wishes, though, they may pursue the source of the rumour by spending a full time slot to do a Simple Intrigue with an objective of Information against a starting disposition of Indifferent aiming for the rumor's defense rating; do not alter this disposition in any way. Characters may use either method - Persuasion or Deception - and technique they wish as part of the attempt; be aware, however, there may be some consequences to the method used to pursue the rumour.

Alternatively, a character may simply press their Status to track down a rumour; do a Status (Reputation) test with a target number of the rumour's defense rating.
