Wanderlust. (Bay 3 Mid afternoon)

[Derrick]

Being on light duty was boring, terribly boring. Added to that he had failed utterly in the wargames earlier. Which honestly wasn't all that surprising, those rules were very confusing. The rain had let up and more to pass the time then anything Derrick decided to take Harvey out on a ride. His leathers were mostly soaked through from the earlier rain, so he wore his scalemail with his sword and shield in easy reach.

Eyes open he led his Horse along the edge of the forest, perhaps in hope of seeing the huge white stag people had been talkign about. If it even existed.

[Ferris Cafferen]

Ferris was on the prowl again. Owl flying over the treeline, the hunter's attention was on the ground. Hopefully the natural canopy the mass of leaves provided had preserved the tracks he wanted...on the other hand the rain and mud might hold fresh ones.

Tracking for the Stag 21

[Derrick]

Derrick spotted the other man from his position on his horse, and pondered what exactly he was doing. Whatever it was the man seemed to want quiet so after finding a place to tie up Harvey he dismounted, trying to catch the man's eye before he got too close. He didn't want to startle him.

[Ferris Cafferen]

His focus narrows for a brief moment before the man enters his vision. Rinsing, he cleans his hands and whistles to his owl.

''Good afternoon''

[Derrick]

"Afternoon." Came the reply from the young solider. "Saw you out here look around and figured I'd come greet ya. Didn't know if my riding would disturb you from your work, and thought it best to ask." He was also a bit curious as to what the man was doing... But he wasn't the type to pry.

[Ferris Cafferen]

Ferris looked carefully at the young man, remembering him from earlier

''You thought well, I am trying to get hold of some tracks. I am Ferris Cafferen'' he said holding out his hand

[Derrick]

"I'm Derrick, a retainer of House Algood." The young solider replied extending his own hand, to shake that if the Lord. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Milord."

"Could I ask what it is you're hunting?"

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Yes...you are the one who struck down Lord Barartheon.'' he frowned for a moment before turning to the tracks

''I am trying to find the blue-eyed white stag''

[Derrick]

"Aye, that was me... though I did have some help." Of course he might have been able to take him on his own... It was likely better he didn't try though. "The white stag?"

"Have any luck finding it? I've heard of several who plan to look for it."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''They plan, I actually do it'' he scoffs

''The beast is ellusive, that is quite certain. I am usure if what I find are traces of the actual thing.''

[Derrick]

There was a small grunt from the solider. It likely meant something along the lines of. 'you make a good point.' In the peculiar dialect some men spoke in. "I'd offer to help, but I don't know much about hunting... I take it the beasts tracks aren't really all that different then any other stags?"

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Hence to problem'' he replies

''Short of chance encounter best I can do is acclimate to the forest and follow what tracks I can''

[Derrick]

"Mmmm..." That certainly did sound like a problem. though it seemed the man had at least a small idea of what he needed to do to find the creature. "What's your plan then?"

"If you find it that is?"

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Depends...If I can hunt it then I will. Hopefully I can trap it somewhere.''

he shrugs

''Really, I can't say before I catch wind of it''

[Derrick]

"I suppose that makes sense." The young man offered after a few moment's thought. "No reason to think about what to do with it if you can't even find it." That was a bit like putting the cart before the horse after all.

[Ferris Cafferen]

He frowned, nodding

''Say...did Lord Baratheon's actions seemed strange to you?''

[Derrick]

"I don't know the lord well enough to say for certain. He did seem to be well into his cups though, and he wasn't listening to reason. We had him outnumbered four to two and he still came on, that's after knocking his own men down in a effort to get to us." A frown made it's way onto his features. "He seemed to be hungry for a fight, or something like that."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''I suspect he was drugged'' he said scratching his beard

''The joust started fine...but he becomes drunk all of a sudden?''

[Derrick]

"He definitely was in leave on his senses when he was fightning. So at the very least this wasn't any sort of planned murder. Not by Lord Baretheon at least..." Derrick murmured, a frown on his features.

"Can't say if he was drugged though, I don't know much of anything about that. He did seem rather unsteady st the start on that second charge though."

"If you need any help looking into these things further let me know. I may not be able to help much, but I'll do what I can."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Aye...thank you but I am not an investigator myself''

He shook his head

''We will have to talk to him''

[Derrick]

The frown deepened on the young man's features. "That will likely be difficult... Might be easier to chat with the people supporting him. Or the squires and other folk attending him. They might be able to give you a better idea of what was going on."

"Maybe you can find out if he was drinking all morning or hardly at all? I don't think anyone there could argue about him not being drunk. If you can prove he didn't drink much that morning if at all... Might help you prove that he was drugged."

"Could see if anyone gave him anything to drink between the two lances as well. If they did, maybe see if you can find the skin or the bottle? That's all I can really think of though."

[Ferris Cafferen]

He nods

''Valid points...it might be interesting to check''

[Derrick]

The young man shrugged. "It all might not tell you anything, but if you can't talk to Lord Baretheon himself, which I figure would be the case. You might as well look into other things."

"Might help things, especially since that Lord Dunn fellow looked like he was just about ready to kill." He had in fact killed at least one man. "Off screaming about justice rather then trying to lift the horse off his Lord."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Some nobles aren't as clever as they think''

After that sentence he gave a whistle in the air which was echoed by a low hoot in a nearby tree

''It was nice meeting you Derrick, you gave me a few things to ponder on''

[Derrick]

"Nice meeting you as well Milord."

"Good luck in your hunt, and with getting to see Lord Baratheon."
