[EE D2] The Bear & The Maiden Far [Red & Black]

Post by Rahvin » Mon Aug 28, 2017 4:10 am

The Bear & The Maiden Fair
A Red & Black Event

The sun is low in the west as the festivities begin on the meadow commons. Buskers stroll through the crowds: bards sing at the top of their lungs, a myriad of jugglers ply their art. A group of tumblers do acrobatics, flipping one another into the air and balancing on a finger tip of another's hand.

Merchants call from the stalls of the market and drunken revelers sing at the top of their lungs along with the bards.

"A bear there was, a bear, a bear!
All black and brown and covered with hair!"

Suddenly, a voice shouts above the crowd, "Watch where you're going, you little Dornish whore!" The revels suddenly cut silent and everyone looks down the green to where a large bear of a man, his face covered in a black beard, stands over a startled Dornish serving girl from the Bottom of the Barrel. Scattered around her feet are a tray and three mugs, all empty; the bear man, for his part, drips with the contents of the drink.

Already there are those lining up on each side...

Intervention
The first step is to decide which side of the conflict you'll enter in on; supporting the Bear Man will count your points towards the Red while supporting the Dornish Girl will count your points towards the Black.

Methodology
It's clear this is going to quickly dissolve into an uncontrollable situation. Some look ready to fight and other look ready to shout it out.
There seems to be a few reasonable faces gathering as well, but they have their work cut out for them... Choose one of the following methods and roll the appropriate test:
Fighting (Brawling) - Challenging (6)
Persuasion (Intimidate) - Challenging (9)
Persuasion (Charm) - Formidable (12)

Repeat the test until you fail a roll or until you've made a number of rolls equal to your Endurance; you may take an Injury to roll an additional time. Take one Bear point (if you support the Bear Man) or one Maiden Fair point (if you support the Dornish Girl) for each degree of success on each roll; characters which made and succeeded on at least one Persuasion (Intimidate) roll add one point to their total while characters which made and succeeded on at least one Persuasion (Charm) roll add two points.

Outcome
The character with the highest Bear or Maiden Fair points in each of the three roll categories will receive a unique Quality that will apply for the duration of the tournament.

If there are more total Bear Points, this event is considered to have been won by the Red.
If there are more total Maiden Fair Points, this event is considered to have been won by the Black.
"That's what I do - I drink and I know things."

Ywain frowned. That was no way to treat a woman.

Without a further moment's hesitation the young knight rushed forward with clear intent to show what he thought of bearded louts.

Lady Cassana admittedly only saw part of the incident. However, she was not one to allow a woman to be pushed around by a man. A small part of her was tempted to show them how a woman could throw a punch but she decided against such brutishness.

"Do you honestly believe a serving girl would be so clumsy?" she asked the crowd, "She would not last a day if this were her fault. It's a waste of good ale and would anger her actual clientele at the tavern!"

Kaliya's eyes flashed with anger, but somehow she kept her composure, still she was not going to allow her kinswoman to be treated like that. She knew that anger would not serve her in this, instead she must draw on what she knows: her looks and some sweet words. She moves to aid the girl, offering her comforting words in hopes that her display of kindness and level-headedness might resonate with enough of the crowd to sway the mood.

One of the Bear's rowdier friends notes her obvious heritage, however, grabbing her wrist and twisting it forcefully until the tendons creak and it seems that the bones will snap. "Serr," she says with a composure she does not feel, "please rrelease me, you arre hurrting me." Through the man's drunken haze, he seems to come to his senses, and lets go, retreating from the melee.

"I do believe that is enough."

Wylla Terrick would slowly move over to the quickly escalating situation, as she'd speak to the crowd, her voice grown stern, and her face revealing a bit of anger she probably didn't realize she was displaying herself, as her brow furrowed at the gruff and rough display she'd heard and more importantly heard tale of. Laying a hand in the direction of all the hostility, she'd calm herself, continuing with a softer tone. All this, and she'd merely wished for another walk through the meadows, and a chance to find her companions from the day before...

"Help the girl pick herself up. If this man wishes to further make a fool of himself, I invite him to redirect his anger towards me. Though I doubt you'll find him moving very far. Each of you can understand this situation, can you not? Excitement is high, tension rises in the first days or the tournament, gambling dreams and hopes rise and dash. And the serving girl who has been trained well enough to dart into these crowds just happens to make such a folly? I agree with Lady..." Wylla paused, as the old man behind her would lowly mutter... "Algood. Give this man no free drink, no free channel for that pent up aggression. Give him the boot. When he matures, and decides to act his age, then he can rejoin us in these festivities and merry. There is no reason why we should allow this disruption to ruin our good eve."

Walder sighs darkly, putting down his ale and rising up to his full height, staring down the "Bear" from across the commons. He moves beside the Lady Terrick, determining her safety to be fit, and then waded into the melee. Bodies started flying quite quickly after that. He incapacitated most of the blackguards that had sided with the "Bear", but someone managed to jam a small dagger through his arm. With a grunt Walder smashed the rogue's teeth down his throat and hit his head on a table with a sickening crunch...

"Alright, that's enough." Seeing a mob of talkers and brawlers being righteous in securing a clumsy servant girl Kevan stormed in, his eyes glimmering intensely. "It's the Reach, we don't lynch people here just because they speak roughly. Back off." And as the noblemen-supported mob didn't listen, he beat some reason into their heads.

"Hey, what's go--" the man had called the lady something mean, but it seemed she had done something wrong because he wouldn't have done something like that otherwise, right? Still, as she tried to help out, it all turned into a brawl it seemed, and Gwen got a few good punches in at ones ganging up on the one being outnumbered.

But her hands really hurt afterward.

All he wanted to do was to enjoy some lively entertainment with a few strangers down in the commons. It wasn't so much to ask for. Alcohol was flowing, emotions still sort of sore from the war. It wasn't necessarily a shock that this occurred, but he could have had no part of it and be quite fine, even if he did not accept the random attack of a Dornish who wasn't obviously part of the war.

He made it to his 30s because he didn't jump at every chance to join a bar brawl for every wrong that occurred against someone. That's generally how the others got weeded out. Plenty of tales and drinking songs about someone going off the handle and dying in the prime. But then from the crowd, he heard a familiar roll of the tongue.

His eyes glanced over as he saw her, being accosted.

It wasn't that he felt possessive over her; no strong emotions on that end. Just how he could they meet up later tonite at a rendezvous in the off chance she saw him on the sidelines still drinking? It would be embarrassing, to say the least.

Oh well, all good stories and drinking songs usually start off with a guy doing something stupid to impress a girl.. He quickly finished his drink and walked over to the closest man and punched him. He went down hard ((17)). A sucker punch for sure, but a bar brawl was not the time for honorable combat. Twisting around for a second, he takes on another who manages to throw a cross. He blocks up and throws a few jabs at him, then sweeping his legs and making him fall on the ground ((14)).

The third man was some poor sap who decided to see if he could punch up from his own status, by the look of him. Could have been not have cared less, if he were to guess, just wanted to brawl a man in a nice outfit. Take out some aggression. It wasn't the best option of his, but he was willing to partake a lesson in manners to those of noble blood. He swung hard with a right hook, knocking him square in the ground. ((13))

Finally, his target, he was running away from the woman. At least he looked like the guy. He was already somewhat drunk and wasn't able to get a clear look at him.

Didn't really matter, to be honest. This whole fight didn't really matter.

So when he picked him up by the throat and lifted him off the ground, and a warm liquid began to leak down upon the ground, at least he could tell her that the man pissed himself before he head butted him in the face and threw him afterwards on the ground, kicking the guy in the gut to make him move out the way. ((22))

Of course now he smelled like piss and booze and sweat. Perfect

Post by Ferris Cafferen » Mon Aug 28, 2017 11:40 pm

Ferris looked around, dismayed at the chaos such a simple accident seemed to have caused. The man might have been impolite in his wrath but it had been no reason to gang up on him so.

These wanna be knights

He shook his head and was ready to leave until he saw the Little Gwen in the middle of everything

''By the Seven...''

He approached the capharnaeum murturing curses between his breaths and hoped against hope that he could calm the situation or at least get the girl out of there.

''Allright, calm down. Lets be reasonnable adults here'' Bear and maiden, charm, bear's side.: 5 no points

As two men tried to close in he guessed that his reasonnable approach failed. His eyes got cold and his voice strangely soft despite the snarl

''Go have your dicks mesured elsewhere, fuck off.'' Bear and maiden, Intimidate, bear's side.: 11 1 Bear point

Now that seemed to have been understood. Still, some seemed to move to his side, intending to test him. A quick jab in the stomach made the ring leader rethink that idea. Bear and maiden, fighting, bear's side.6 1 Bear point

He looked around to see where Gwen was at but she seemed to have runned off somewhere. He took a breath and walked away.

Post by Marqus Forrester » Tue Aug 29, 2017 2:01 am

He was late to the fight so he didn't know exactly how it had all kicked off, but there was little Gwen
swinging her tiny fists, Ser Warryn dressing down the crowd, and Kevan Dunn punching someone's face. It didn't take much for the big northerner to raise his own fists and get in there.

"Oy you lot! Bollocks to yers!"

It was a pretty solid entrance as Marqus punched the guy Gwen was fighting so hard he spat blood. "Fighting with a wee lass? Yer a right raging bellend." To reinforce the point a boot connected solidly with the man's junk, sending him crashing to the ground.

Next up was a pair of nasty-looking lads who seemed to think they were going to gang up on him. Sidestepping around the biggest one, he ducked down and fired an uppercut into the man's jaw, knocking him clean out. "GET IN!"

His pal didn't like the look of that and tried to find a better target, but before he could clock Kevan when he wasn't looking, Marqus tackled him to the ground and threw a few good swings. "Sneaky fucker."

A knee took him in the side of his head, but Marqus was famed for his thick neck: they sung songs about it, apparently. He took the blow and and grinned evilly through bloody teeth before throwing himself to his feet and taking on his assailant with a series of combination punches that staggered the man back into the crowd.

By the end of the fight he was bruised but happy to have dished out far more damage than he took. "Alright now Gwen, what was all that about?"

Derrick was going to ignore the giant brawl that seemed to be happening in the common grounds, it was really none of his business, then he saw the young girl he had seen the previous day get swept into thee brawl. He was at the side of the Tall northern a Few moments later, swinging his fists mostly in a effort to protect the young lady. Though it seemed he was also helping the large man that most of the crowd had ganged up against.

He thought he saw Lord Ulrich in the mess for a few moment's but the brawl swept him in another direction as the young man punched, and kicked his way through the mob. He made it through it all eventually, though he was more then a little bruised, and it felt like he might have a couple cracked ribs along his right side.

At the end he looked around for the little girl he had tried to help, but he couldn't seem to find her.

"What?"

It was all very confusing. One moment, Desmond was watching the jugglers, while feeding Walder a few scraps from dinner. Then, all the shouting and fighting began. There was his sister, trying to calm things. And, there was old man Walder, knocking back the brawlers ignoring her. Finally, he saw Tomas, his new friend from yesterday, in the fray. He couldn't just stand aside and watch, even if father would scold him.

With a whistle, Desmond beckoned his Walder to follow him into battle.

Kaelyn saw the girl being accosted by the brutish man. Kaelyn might be shy and bookish, but she wasn't one to stay back while someone was in need. She came as quickly as she could to the girl's side, asking if she was hurt. "Come, let's get out of the way," she started when there looked to be a fight. "Gentlemen, this is no way to behave, especially with Royalty not so very far away."

Her words fell on relatively deaf ears.

Post by Ser Reynard » Wed Aug 30, 2017 8:59 pm

Reynard stayed above the fray for a while. He and Roycelyn watched things carefully, but Reynard was satisfied that this was a silliness that knights ought not engage. Most "principles" were forgotten by the second or third punch.

Then he saw Lord Desmond enter the conflict and, with a sigh and a shaking head, the strapping young man set aside his drink and waded into the silliness to protect his lord's heir. He didn't even look at Roycelyn, knowing she'd have her dagger drawn but held securely, always watching his back.

...

As the struggle continues, Reynard takes a brutal kick to the knee as one brawler follows it with an attempt to stay him with a broken bottle. Even injured he avoids the drunk's attack, grabbing the man under the arms and hurling him ten feet through the chaos. Catching his breath, Reynard sees Roycelyn, simultaneously concerned and bemused, looking at him with a smile. Her knife is bloody but, he notes with relief, not very. Unsurprisingly, there's no blood on the crafty girl.

The Bear's nostrils flare; his eye is bruised and blood coats his skinned knuckles from the brawl. He breathes heavily, "Bah! Wretched lot of you standing up for some Dornish serving girl?" He spits out blood and, it looks like, a tooth. "Don't a one of you think this'll go without punishment!" He gestures to one of his companions, "Let's go."

The companion gives a slight nod, clearly pained from cuts through his clothing, "As you wish, Lord Baratheon."

During the scuffle, the serving girl has disappeared into the crowds...

The Black wins.

Walder Rivers earns the "Bear Knuckle Brawler" Quality.
Warryn Wydman earns the "Beary Intimidating" Quality.
Wylla Terrick earns the "A Fair Voice" Quality.
