[LA D2] Observing the Squires' Joust

"I'm not sure I should be." Tal replied, briefly glancing back to her. "You have a taste for men eh?" It made his love of women look quite miniscule in comparison. Making a long thoughtful noise he watched the joust. A moment later he replies to her other questions. "Gods willing I will be have the opportunity. I did not come all this way just to watch, but it feels out of my hands with so many famous Lords and knights present."

"I'm glad to hear it. I must admit that I've been more apprehensive than I thought I'd be." she admitted to the handsome knight beside her. "I keep worrying someone will be truly hurt. Will you keep my secret in this?" She grinned. If she thought too seriously on the danger, she might find herself hiding back in her tent and she needed to be here, not only to support House Dunn and Lord Kevan, but to meet people and get used to this kind of thing.

His gaze sweeps back to her and he looks... disappointed?

"Honestly I was only annoyed at myself for having some foolish notions. I am not one for deceiving others. I hope that others display their true colours to me, but I know it is not always so." He sighs and shakes his head gently. His gaze then meets hers and holds it willfully. "I am not jealous and I find I do enjoy your company too Lady Kaliya. I simply did not realise until now that it was shared so freely, though in hindsight that makes sense. Forgive me if my words offend, but I call things as I see them." Tal lifts a hand. "As long as a man, or a woman, sticks to their word and duty then I would not fault them for their company or even most vices. It would be hypocritical of me to, in fact. I hope that alleviates your concerns and calms your... agitation."

Lifting his cup he finally sets aside her gaze as he takes a sip and looks back to the jousts with less obvious enthusiasm than before.

[Maester Oswell]

"Ever since the accident that took my legs I've been studying the healing arts." Oswell elaborated.

"And don't sell yourself short Ser, your story is not yet told. Who knows but what contribution you will make to the land, some famed Knights can stop wars as easily as start them."

[Davelyn Sand]

"Which would always be my intention. The thought of being a warrior that represents justice and fights for those that cannot fight for themselves drives me. To serve a man who holds honor in the highest esteem nourishes my soul. But the terrible nature of war and those that suffer it's worst effects when it is not even their fight pains my heart."

His head turns and Talieas actually looks somewhat confused. "I'm now not actually sure we're speaking the same language. Who you are does not offend me nor have I dismissed you, or at least not without any intention to." Finishing his cup he sets it down, running a hand through his hair. "I confess you now have me at a complete loss. Perhaps we should talk of this more at another time." It was too heavy a subject, and clearly too laden with traps, for two nobles watching a squires' joust. "I hope that satisfies you for the moment."

Kaliya was paying attention now, certainly more deeply than she had before. His confusion was clearly broadcast, but there was a wariness beneath, one she thought she understood. "Of courrse, forrgive me."

What was going on today?

"While I am certain such a thing would be appreciated by the realms I would also hope that it would not be needed. I wouldn't deem to know where your duties as a maester should be placed, though. You undoubtedly have many ways to assist the realms, and doing so in the best way you know how is up to you and the Citadel," he says with a smile.

She laughed a bit. "I thank you for your discretion, good Ser. I hadn't realized the lances were different. That is comforting."

She grinned, remembering, "As a child I remember always worrying more for the horses when men would fight. Now that I know better? . . . I worry for both." she winked and laughed again.

"There is nothing to forgive. Let us have some more wine and enjoy the joust."

With a wave of his arm he attracted the attention of another servant and soon cups would be filled once more.

Accepting the wine, Kaliya watched the remaining jousters, but her mind was mostly elsewhere.

Arwyn smiles at the women she sees below. "Certainly. So it seems... It's a bit unusual, but I admit, I certainly don't mind seeing the women take part."

[Warryn Wydman]

"Mhm." Warryn seemed less sure. "I guess..." he thought of home. "It can be useful if a woman knows how to fight, just in case."

With Kaliya unwilling to raise a new topic and move past the misunderstanding Tal leans back and takes a moment to think of one. When he does he glances to her cautiously for a moment, returning to watching the joust as he speaks casually. "Are there tournaments like this in Dorne?"

A soft smile. "She does. I was just riding with her earlier today. A very pleasant conversationalist, as well." And beautiful.

[Warryn Wydman]

"Oh? Yeah, she's... fun." And beautiful. "Met anyone else interesting?"

[Arwyn Forrester]

She takes a breath and thinks. "Quite a few people. Alessia, the other young lady down there... Kevan Dunn, the heir of that House, and its Maester, Oswell... Lord Cedric Kellington..." At that, her expression is very neutral. "Ser Davelyn Sand, a Dornish knight sworn to the aforementioned Kellingtons... Ser Corbray, of course." She smiles. "All of them have been interesting in their own way."
