The mood is tense as the final joust of the day begins; Lord Leo Tyrell awaits before the box of Lord Ashford, rain pattering heavily on the awning. The party of Lyonel Baratheon arrives; the Heir of Storm's End looks angered, his face bruised and cut. He companions - armed warriors all - look like they mean serious business. He gestures to let them take cover under an awning as he approaches his opponent.
There are curt words shared, hard to hear over the driving rain, and Lord Baratheon quickly spins his horse away. The Lord of Highgardendoes the same, much slower and more measured, to take his place at the other end of the list. Both knights are soon handed their lances. The staccato bass rumble of hoof beats is audible under the downpour as the two knights make the first pass. Lances clashes on shields, exploding in a barrage of weapon shrapnel. Both knights turn, pages and squires working to hand them another lance.
Lord Baratheon shakes his head slightly as he steadies his horse, as if trying to clear something from his vision. His horse wobbles with him slightly, then they line up for the next pass. The two jousters' coursers pick up speed, tossing up clumps of mud as they near one another. Suddenly, it becomes all too obvious that Lord Baratheon's lance is tilting downwards - too far down. It looks like he struggles at the last moment to lift it, but it's too last.
The heavy spear punches through the neck of Lord Tyrell's horse. Shouts are audible over the rain as grooms, squires, soldiers, all rush in before the action has even stopped. The lord of Highgarden flips over his horse, landing with a solid crunch on his head. His horse topples behind him, pinning the lord beneath it. Lord Baratheon, for his part, tries to slow and steady his horse but instead falls from the saddle himself, landing on his side.
Lord Baratheon's companions rush to his side as he unsteadily - and clearly drunkenly - rises to his feet, his hand already going for the axe kept at his side. He casts about, ready for a fight, though somewhat surprised to see that it isn't Leo Tyrell come to face him.
The Lord Ashford rises to his feet, his daughter at his side weeping into hands pressed over her eyes. "Lord Baratheon, cease this at once!" his voice booms as loud as thunder.
The Baratheon lord seems to mutter something and his companions lock in closer around him. It doesn't seem like they're willing to give up too easy...
