[LM D1] Bread & Salt - Observation

Whispers are audible throughout the room as the crowds discuss the various words coming from the visitors to Ashford. More telling are they hushed reactions to each toast to each of the princes...

[This thread is for those who remain in the hall after they have completed their Bread & Salt ceremony. While not mandatory, it may be considered rude for guests to not partake in the ceremony despite being present in the hall...]

Alessia remained present as long as they would allow her to. Food, wine, during a journey on the road these were things that many travelers dreamed of an abundance of waiting for them at the end. For Alessia it wasn't why she came here but it was certainly a reason to remain.

With some wine in hand she sought some company, but wasn't quite sure who.

Davelyn was relaxing in a chair out of the way. He knew his place and didn't want to give any Lords reason to get upset with him. So there he was, enjoying a drink and enjoying the morning.

Ywain sat down as the ritual was done. A knight didn't flee and stumbling over his words publicly like that had left him with a hole in his belly best filled with some bread... and some wine.

Cassana was pleased with her overall performance. However, hers was soon outdone by a later woman. Though she kept her appearance up, it was clear her jovial mood had faltered.

She then noticed Alessia among the crowd and perked her brow. She went forward with her own wine glass in hand and stepped forward to intercept the traveler. "I am Cassana of House Algood," she announced lightly and then waited for a response.

Warryn sat down, looking around absently. He nodded to a few familiar faces, but didn't approach anyone yet.

Done with the bread, Gwen looked around to see if there was anyone interesting that knew more about what was happening with the princes. Did something happen on the road maybe? Bandits?

Kevan remained in the room, covering his sullenness because of being shut off with a small smile and pushing it aside by letting his gaze curiously wander.

Ulrich returned to his seat after his dismal performance and raised his hand for some wine. He knew enough of the social niceties to know it would be even more talk to just leave afterwards from the embarrassment.

Instead, it was better to receive some wine and look at the others coming in. Important to learn the field and their skill with these things, in case it had to be brought up later.

In her brief time away from her home, the sight of unlady-like women was rare. So Alessia did draw some attention look very much unlady-like compared to everyone else here.

Or at least, Gwen was certain it was a woman. Right? Realising that she was staring, the girl chewed thoughtfully on her lips. "Uhm... I like your sword?"

Alessia took in the sight of the woman approaching and though she looked like no one she ever met at first there was a certain familiarity about her that inspired a second glance. Only by the time that Cassana spoke her name did Alessia's eyes flicker with the possibility of recognition, "Is it you?" she asked, her smile giving her voice a lighter, happier tone.

With her expression turning a bit more serious, with a brow raised she asked, "Every day for a week, the baker would leave out the front of the shop," she paused, waiting for Cassana to finish.

Alessia did not yet notice the young girl with her attention focused elsewhere for the moment.

Ulrich had been ahead of her in the procession of social niceties that advanced past their host and the Targaryens. He had blushed so prettily as he stumbled over his words, and now she pointedly moved into his line of sight, favouring him with an alluring smile.

"And his wife left out through the back." Cassana muffled a laugh and took a sip from her glass. "You are here, of all places."

Alessia's smile broadened at the proper return, placing a hand on Cassana's free arm if available.

"Of all places, we meet again far from any port and conceivable places, but that was how we met the first time as well so I do not see why this should have been any different."

Cassana looked to the hand on her arm and then back to Alessia. "You must be here for the tournament. But which House are you a member of now? Certainly you are not serving my brother without me knowing."

The wine could not come quickly enough for him as he sat down and looked over to the olive skinned woman.

Already attracting attention..

As he drinks his wine, he smiles warmly at the girl. Could be worse attention to attract.

"I don't suppose that could have gone much worse." He says to her, matching her eyes to his in a tone loud enough for her to hear as she approached. to the lady as he stands in greeting to her. "Suppose I should take lessons from you, my lady."

She curtsied, "Lady Kaliya Rredding. Do not trrouble yourrself over such things. The worrds may be prretty, but they arree empty as a milkmaiden's skull." She appraised the man before her, moving in a little closer than was polite and, considering the crowded hall, that was already rather close.

She judged Ulrich's age to belong to the somewhat nebulous category 'north of her own age', which covered everyone in their twenties and beyond. Not Winterfell-north, or even the Neck, but if Maester Oswell was Beyond the Wall (he wasn't, but the years hadn't been kind), Ulrich would be somewhere around the Twins.

Pulling her hand back casually she glanced off to the side for a moment, a bit wrapped up in things still to notice the poor Gwen Snow beside her.

"I do not serve a house, and I have little intention to throw myself at one of them just for a shed of comfort," she said, that light smile still intact.

Obviously satisfied with her own outcome, Wylla remained in the hall, making idle chatter with any who would approach. Despite her rather lavish priase and thanks towards their host and his honored guests, she would refrain from attempting and more such grandstanding, taking herself to a bit of a corner, where few would be behind her, and letting her retainer, Gouren, grab her attention when it was demanded by the other nobles. Much more effective to let those come to her, rather than seeking any entanglements so soon.

"You are not sworn to any of the Houses?" She perked a brow at Alessia's further comments but decided not to vocalize any of her own. "Did you come here upon happenstance or did you know about the tournament?"

Trying to be discreet, Ferris took a seat after his few and meager words. Observing the goings in the great hall, he took this time to memorise some faces as he poured himself something to drink.

He had nothing better to do anyway.

Seeing as the interesting lady was more interested in the blonde lady, Gwen didn't want to raise her voice and cause any further embarrassements this morning... at least not right now and she kind of silently went away, a little disheartened that her first attempt at this grownup-thing called 'mingling' was a lot harder than she had thought at first.

She found herself a vacant seat, uncaring of who was already sitting around it, and looked around for something to drink.

"Quite the way with words, Lady Redding." Her sudden approach was met with a smile on his face. "And equally as astute is your observations. Still, we must always do the nicities. Even those with no flair for it." He looks over to her and stares at her for a moment longer.

"Lord Ulrich Reyes. Always happy to meet astute women."

Public speaking was one thing, but flirting with a woman was something else.

Enticed by his green eyes, Kaliya holds his gaze for a time, a smile on her full lips. "Of courrse, I happen to be an excellent teacherr. I believe many of my afterrnoons arre frree forr prrivate lessons."

Her attention was momentarily diverted, indicating for a serving boy to refill her cup, and Ulrich's if needed; and she took the opportunity to look him over. There was nothing coy in her gaze, looking was free and that was nothing to be ashamed of, noting the cut of his garb, the fine fabric, the fit of the tailoring and what it implied about the man underneath.
