Kaelyn smiled under what could be considered praise, especially if it was an ideal they shared. "Well, then consider my gratitude a compliment on your own advice-giving skills. Well done." Her voice lilting ever so slightly to a laugh. "You know, when we first met, I knew you were loyal to your Lord. It's strange - I was telling him as much earlier this evening over a meal. He was kind enough to help me brave The Dirty Dornishman and guard my reputation. There is a genuine respect between the two of you. It speaks to both your good characters."

"Lord Wydman or his son?" He would have queried with an unassuming glance.

"Oh? Lord Warryn is very capable and honourable. He'll make a good head of House one day." Tal would certainly praise, grinning at the thought. "I've not known him a year yet, but he's someone you can trust. A little haughty sometimes, but fair and respectful - especially if he has come to trust you. He also has a solid grasp of his House's situation, which is better than some other House heirs seem to have if gossip is to be believed." The casual way he said it strongly implied he didn't mean Kaelyn's own kin, but others.

"My apologies, I meant Lord Warryn as he's the one I observed you interacting with."

Kaelyn smiled and nodded along with Ser Talieas. She had not noticed him being haughty but her experiences with him were limited, after all. She cast a guilty look his way when he mentioned rumors about other Lords, smiling as she confessed. "I have to come clean; I don't know many of the rumors that are flying about. Those that I have spoken with haven't mentioned them, and I tend not to believe gossip even when I do hear it. It's often exaggerated or entirely untrue. I have been fooled too many times to put faith in them anymore."

She smiled up at him. "Having said that, I do agree with everything you've said about Lord Wydman. He strikes me as straight forward and honest. And he definitely doesn't treat his duties as a Lord with frivolity. After all, why would he have bothered to meet with Lord Dunn if he didn't have an appreciation of his holdings?"

She looked down the street, growing a bit serious. "If I may request something of you that would require discretion... During our meal, I brought up the topic of marriages in the abstract sense." She hurried to explain. "I mean, I didn't put myself forward as an option for him or anything. It was a discussion of marriage as an institution." Kaelyn shook her head at herself. "I'm sorry, I'm flustered and explaining myself poorly. The important thing is that the concept of marriage was mentioned and I had no idea he'd had and lost his wife. If you could discretely make certain I didn't foolishly manage to open old wounds, I would be in your debt."

By the end she was looking down, wringing her hands together. She'd felt awful, but maybe his friend could look in on him.

At the comment on Warryn and meeting with the Dunns he smiled and nodded. "Agreed." He listens as she goes on to make a request. He lifted an eyebrow, but said nothing immediately as she continued. When she paused he sort of cleared his throat and slowly nodded. "Err yes?" Some understanding goes show as she goes on to mention Warryn's first wife.

Scratching his cheek and giving a slight cringe he looks up. "Well, I think that... hmm... well, I doubt you opened old wounds. At least not enough that he could not move past it. However, I could ask about your meal together and how he found it. And, err, you." A brief pause of his own, his gaze returning to her as he looked a little out of his element. "M'lady."

Kaelyn shook her head. "It gives me hope to think that I may not have offended him." She picked up on his reluctance. "If it's too much trouble, please don't feel pressured to ask. I was merely hoping to undo a potential mess. I don't want any encumbrance on you, though."

She played with one of the rings on her fingers. "So what does the good Ser Talieas Corbay do when he's not escorting maidens or seeing to other knightly duties?"

Tal displayed a big smile and held up a hand. "No, I will. The task is no problem."

At her question he murmurs thoughtfully while they pass around a bend and into a new street. "I enjoy riding, reading, training and sometimes a spot of fishing. And you Lady Kaelyn?"

"I appreciate it, truly. Thank you, Ser Corbay." She bowed her head in thanks.

"It would seem as though we have a few common interests. I ride quite a lot and read perhaps more than is good for me. I have never been fishing. Is it difficult?"

"Err, well, I'm not the best at it. I wouldn't say it's difficult necessarily, but maybe something that takes some talent to be good at...?" Tal was trying to convince himself. Even as he did so he wondered just how much Kaelyn read, and he was intrigued she also liked horse riding. It seemed to be a common interest of the ladies at Ashford.

Kaelyn grinned. "Well, it's not as though a Knight can spend all his days honing his fishing skills. But perhaps measured practice over time?"
