Practice makes perfect (Day 2 Afternoon)

[Derrick]

Derrick had found this place earlier in the day, scouting around for a place to practice this afternoon, he'd told Lady Cassana about it and returned a short while later. He was clad in his scalemail, and was currently clearing the area of brush. There wasn't much, but Cassana would likely do better if she didn't need to worry about her footing.

It would likely be difficult for most to tell who Derrick was. He wasn't wearing a full helm, but it covered enough to make him hard to recognize, and with his shield absent it was even less of a clue. One might recognize the sword and dirk the young man carried though, or the boar spear leaning against a nearby tree.

[Cassana Algood]

The 'mystery knight' returned to the tree with her longsword at her hip and a practice sword and shield at hand. Cassana nodded at Derrick through her helmet.

"Ready to start already?" He asked as he readied himself for battle. There would be no shield for him today, perhaps that would make things a little easier on the young woman. Though he wasn't completely sure of it.

Hefting his practice weapons a sword and dagger combo he approached the young woman. Aiming a cautious blow at her, perhaps in a effort to make up for his lack of shield.

The woman took the blow and shook her head. She sighed and gave him a tap in return.

Moving was cheating! Or something close to it at least... Still Derrick pursued, putting his his shoulder down and using his forward momentum to try and knock the knightly woman from her feet. It was a solid Push and it likely would cause the woman to go crashing to the ground.

Cassana toppled to the ground and not-so-gracefully got back to her feet. She swung harder into him this time out of frustration.

"Better." He grunted, turning slightly to take the hit and absorb it, lessening the impact against his armor. It was the hardest blow he had seen her strike thus far. a small improvement but one in the right direction. Unfortunately it did leave her wide open for his next attack, and he found himself taking a lesser opening instead.

The armored woman stumbled back after taking the strike. "You held back," she murmured through her helmet before returning with a strike of her own.

"Would you have me not Milady?" He asked after absorbing the blow. Taking another swing towards her before stepping back. "I'm not trying to offend you by doing so."

Cassana murmured an affirmation before getting smacked in the side again. She took a breath and then rushed in after the man.

She didn't want him to hold back... Well perhaps he should show her a few things. " alright then." He murmered softly before getting shoved to the ground with a thud. Getting to his feet in heavy armor quickly was difficult, but the young man did manage, a acrobatic roll helping his gain some momentum. Perhaps it was a difficult move for the woman to follow because as Derrick got to his feet his sword lashed out in a wicked blow. One that might be devastating if he held a proper weapon.

The noblewoman, despite her armor, took the blow straight in the stomach. She dropped the practice blade and collapsed onto the ground. "That is enough for now," she murmured.

[Derrick]

Derrick grimaced a git as Cassana hit the ground and his own weapons were set to the side before he spoke. "Are you alright milady?" He asked a touch of something, perhaps concern in his voice. "Could I get you anything?"

[Cassana Algood]

"No 'milady.' People may overhear you." She tossed aside her shield and propped herself up against a tree. "I need to catch my breath."

[Derrick]

Ah.... He should of thought of that. Nodding quietly he went to fetch a skin of water to place by her side. Before rising and beginning to scout around the clearing for signs of hidden watchers.

"I think we are in the clear." He offered after a,few moments.

[Cassana Algood]

The woman held her hands over the impact spot. She let out a sigh. "I wish I could take a look at it. Hopefully it did not leave a mark." She then shrugged. "No one will be looking at my stomach anyways."

[Derrick]

"It might leave a bruise." Derrick replied somewhat apologetically. "Which is one of the reason I usually hold back." He continued as he started to inspect his armor for sign's of damage. "I'm a bit stronger then most people, so I tend to hit a lot harder. It's harder to keep control if I don't hold back."

[Cassana Algood]

"I will not improve if I am never in danger," she murmured. She let out an involuntary groan of pain as she tried to get to her feet. "Maybe a bit longer."

[Derrick]

"There is truth in that, but there is also a limit to how much danger you should face. You won't learn if I press you too hard either, or that's how I've always thought of it." He sighed softly. "Though I suppose time is a bit short."

He paused a moment. "What do you think you are having the most trouble with?"

[Cassana Algood]

"I am not strong enough. And I do not mean that in terms of willpower, I mean pure strength." She looked to her practice blade and then back to Derrick ."My blows are ineffective. I can land a strike at least but it means nothing if the blade does not damage flesh."

[Derrick]

"A actual blade will help some with that, though otherwise I see few options before you. More physical training perhaps?" He paused thoughtfully.

"Other then that? Just more time with a blade. Is all I can think of."
