Family Business (D3 EM)

[Warryn Wydman]

Warryn nodded in understanding. "Aye, I can see the point. Truthfully, I wouldn't be sure what exactly do... House Kellington has few issues that a warrior would need to solve? The lands are peaceful then, I take it?" He asked curiously.

[Davelyn Sand]

"Mostly, yes. There is very little banditry and we have not been at war since I started serving," he says with a nod. "It's saddening to know that not all have at least that much peace."

"So... what was Jon like, if you don't mind me asking?"

[Warryn Wydman]

"That is good news, even if lacking in opportunities for glory." He smiled. That sounded wonderful.

"Jon was... tall." He laughed. "Taller than me... I always felt little next to him. Never faltering. He was tough as a mountain."

Until he broke.

"Father trained him from early on to lead, and he was good at it." He sighed. All for naught.

[Davelyn Sand]

"And I'm sure he did so quite well, while he was here," Davelyn replied, with a smile. "But he did do you a great service even more, by giving you an inspiration to live up to. And you can do it."

[Warryn Wydman]

Warryn smiled. "Don't take this wrong, but I'd still settle to have him lead for real, rather than inspiration." He smiled sadly. "How about you? Any siblings?"

[Davelyn Sand]

"I get that, Warryn," he says with a nod of understanding. "Well, I mean, technically I may, but honestly I don't. I don't actually have parents really. Sure, somebody gave birth to me but I was never told who and I stopped wondering about that as well a long time ago. Uncle Maron said the only thing that mattered was that my family was the Martells and that I was loved. After that... it just seemed to have no importance."

[Warryn Wydman]

"Sounds like a great home." He smiled. "The Martells seem like a nice family... though that is not someone often hears this side of the Dornish border." Warryn sighed. "Have you heard things from them? How are things there?"

[Davelyn Sand]

"Not recently, no. Every once in a while I will. A trader comes through every few months with a box and a letter from Aunt Avella, but that was a little while ago and only mentioned personal things between us, no big news. She spoils me a bit, sending me a bit of Dornish Red." He smiles at that. Which... by the way... we will most definitely celebrate with when we can finalize all the political stuff."

[Warryn Wydman]

"Heard good things of it, now I'm looking forward to trying it." He raised his glass. "Hoping it'll work out. I will talk to my father later today, hopefully."

He cracked his knack. "So nothing strange or bad, thankfully. That's always good news." He smiled, though it was half there. "Any problems around camp, with you being a Dornishman?"

[Davelyn Sand]

"Well... other than the occasional dirty look which is not so uncommon, everything is good. Usually nobody says anything to me though. I think people get confused seeing a Dornishman in Stormland colors. I imagine that you get along just fine with most here. Does the Vale have any current animosity anywhere other than from the mountain men?"

[Warryn Wydman]

Warryn shrugged. "Nothing in particular that I know of, but we Wydmans usually keep to ourselves and fellow Valefolk." He sighed. "Glad to hear it's not too bad then."

[Davelyn Sand]

"Well, I think you need to get out of the Vale a bit more often if you can spare it then Warryn," he says with a smirk. "You're wonderful company. It'd be sad if more people didn't get to learn that."

[Warryn Wydman]

Warryn let out a low laugh. "Aye.. that might be good, but not sure what the future holds. Anyone in particular you're thinking of?"

[Davelyn Sand]

"I mean, just in general for the most part," he says with a smile. "I have not met too many folks here myself. You've likely met far more than me. I imagine that people are barging into the compound like I did this morning to speak with you, honestly."

[Warryn Wydman]

"Not as much as you'd think. We're a new house, barely known. I spend a lot of time asking for others' time than the other way around." He looked away. "Well, it is what it is. We'll be great some day." He glanced at Dav. "If I recall correctly House Kellington is pretty old, isn't it?"

[Davelyn Sand]

"You are great today," Davelyn replies. "Simply not widely known because you're all busy working up at Old Peak," he reassures with a smile.

"Very old, too much history for me to have more than scratched the surface in the time I've had at Cragfort."

[Warryn Wydman]

"Kind as always Dav." He smiled bashfully at the Dornishman. "Sounds interesting... perhaps I'll get to visit some day. It could be fun."

[Davelyn Sand]

"I hope you do. I'll be glad to show you around," he says with a smile. "It's old and you can feel it in the stones when you walk the halls. The ages past. Thinking of the generations that walked through them. I feel so small and insignificant in the grand story of it all, but am proud to be part of it regardless."

[Warryn Wydman]

"Aye, sounds interesting. Hope you visit Old Peake sometime. The castle itself is old... real old. I hope we can excavate a few of the other rooms... like some of the old armory perhaps." He smiled, thinking back on his home. "What wonders could be there."

[Davelyn Sand]

"Oh? It's a former home of some long past family? I wonder how far back?" He seems genuinely curious.

[Warryn Wydman]

"I do not know for sure. It is an ancient Andal castle. That much I know. Sadly we lack a maester who could know more." He sighed. "It would be good if we could have one."

[Davelyn Sand]

"Ah, maesters. They're great to have around... except when they have to explain things that you become embarrassed that you didn't know about." He chuckles at that.

[Warryn Wydman]

"So... most times?" He smiled. "You have a maester at Kellington, I take it?"

[Davelyn Sand]

"Well, most times having explained yes... but not so often with the embarrassment. Usually I don't mind knowing that I don't know something... sometimes that something is a bit more embarrassing than others though."

He nods at the question. "Yes, Maester Endrew. He's a good man. Very smart and very caring for the house. He stresses a great deal about it, but he does a masterful job."

"Sounds like a good maester, as you say. He takes on the House's business with gusto, I take it?" He asked, checking the food in front of him.
