Visiting Hours [ME D3]

[Arwyn Forrester]

Arwyn went down to the cells after finding out the details, hoping to visit the young swordswoman. She was willing to show (to a reasonably degree) that she wasn't carrying anything before she finally went in, seeking Alessia's cell. She smiles a little when she comes into view of the other Northern woman. "I admit, this isn't exactly how I expected we'd speak next."

[Alessia]

Always attentive to the sounds of someone coming her way, Alessia was stood awaiting to see who it would be. Arwyn didn't clank or thud about like many of the menfolk around here and that had her making guesses as to the purpose, but when she saw Arwyn a slight smile came to her lips.

From the distance, she looked well. Despite her situation.

"This was not in my plan last we spoke either," she said with half a laugh.

[Arwyn Forrester]

"How are you?" She asked, concern evident in her voice. She looked all right, but looks can be deceiving.

[Alessia]

Stepping closer to the woman she offered a faint smile, sweat was clear at the ridge just under her hair. Showing the only crack in her rather well put up ruse of complete comfort with her situation. Pain from the wound infected everything she did, and it weighed on her quite a bit. Though it was tended as much it could be, it certainly didn't make life easy for her in the slightest.

"Just fine, Lady Forrester," she put on her usual charming smile.

[Arwyn Forrester]

She wrapped a hand around one of the bars, the worry deepening, but offering a small smile in return. "You look like you've been through the wringer," she points out, a little gentle ribbing in her voice. It goes back to pure concern, though, when she asks, "What in the world happened back there, anyway?"

[Alessia]

"I look better than most that have come that close to a greatsword," she said with a half laugh. Reaching out wide so that she could support herself on the bars opposite the woman, leaning in slightly. More from the weakness than anything else, if she were to be honest, but she didn't want to show that either.

"As sure Baratheon was to be worried someone might try to kill him, the Dunn made it clear that the men moving in to subdue him might have had other ideas of what should happen to the man," she said, raising both brows momentarily like a shrug. "Anyway, once a sword promises itself to defend a man, I could not very well let them kill him."

[Arwyn Forrester]

"If that was the case, I would think he would have moved in for the killing blow," she notes. "I got the impression that's what he had, not that it was some sort of nefarious purpose."

"Yes, anyway... It doesn't seem right that you should be in here for keeping true to a promise. Why was he worried someone might try to kill him, did he mention?"

[Alessia]

"It was something with a Dornish girl the other day, Lord Ashford refused to have anyone answer for assaulting him just this day prior. I find he was in the right to question if Ashford, or anyone, would go so far as to bar him from jousting in some manner."

[Arwyn Forrester]

She nodded sympathetically at that, frowning softly. "Ah, I heard some about that... My brother was involved, on Lord Baratheon's side." A moment later, she looks closer at the sweat she can see on her forehead. She reaches forward, thinking to feel her forehead to make sure she didn't have a fever, but she paused and pulled her hand back. "Sorry... I shouldn't do that without asking. I was worried you might have a fever."

[Alessia]

Alessia smiled a little, "You are kind to be concerned milady. I am afraid my usual self is a bit harder to maintain at the moment. Never realized the effort it tooK to stand till someone tried to cleave me in half."

Voice softer as she spoke the words, letting a little bit of the weariness set in, but she kept up a good front all the same. Letting humor color her words in the way she wanted them to be perceived.

"If it would ease your worry, Arwyn Forrester, you may lay your hand as you please. I am afraid you will only get my sweat on your hand, however," she said with a light chuckle.

[Arwyn Forrester]

She pulled out a handkerchief, gently dabbing the sweat from her brow with it and resting her hand gently against her forehead. "It doesn't feel like it right now, at least... She pulls her hand back. "You don't need to maintain it for my sake."

[Alessia]

"I hope you do not find fault in it milady, but it is not something I maintain for anyone else but myself," she said, offering up a light smirk.

[Arwyn Forrester]

She smiles. "That's good. The only person you should be worrying about." She paused, and finally said. "Alessia... I hate to ask, but did he seem intoxicated before the joust?" The last was asked quietly, to minimize the dungeon's echoes. She had the vague hope she might say something that could be turned to prevent a war.

[Alessia]

Now, unlike her visitors before, Arwyn offered something that actual gave Alessia the need for thought. Looking down she silenced her other attentions and focused on that alone. Wondering, thinking, no he had seemed rather put together just prior to the event in the tavern. Of course, the location wasn't exactly the best location for an alibi there but well, if she had to say...

"No, he was loud. Boisterous even. Definitely a bit angry, but he was well put together when he gathered the men in the tavern, when I signed up for him. All the man wanted was a chance to joust and he had no men to ensure his protection."

Alessia quieted her voice and looked to Arwyn with a certain understanding, "Do you mean to think he might have been poisoned?"

[Arwyn Forrester]

"I'm not sure," she says seriously. "He was fine at the tavern from what you're saying. And he was fine the entirely of the first joust. At the start of the second joust, he shook his head and suddenly could barely hold up his lance. Then, according to one of the people on the ground, he was suddenly back up in fighting shape afterward. It's not at all impossible it was poison, but someone would have to be very good with it to get the timing that specific."

[Alessia]

"Maybe it's the Dunn's," she said, throwing her shoulders up into a shrug. Though her voice, albeit a little strained, kept a certain levity that was impossible to deny. Sure, if Lyonel heard this news she figured he might find it quite the thought. Might even get him thinking. Alessia, however, didn't see the merit in random conjecture of the masses unless it pointed her in a direction.

Still, it could be fun to use it, "Way that Dunn boy wanted to clean things up afterwards. Cleaving the poor man in two when he was sent in to keep the peace. Quite the thing, that is."

[Arwyn Forrester]

Arwyn was tempted, for a brief moment, to get openly angry at that. She was, of course, extremely, but it was better not to let it show for now. Instead, she raised an eyebrow, keeping with the mood for now. "I think that goes to show it's impossible right there. Not enough subtlety."

[Alessia]

"No, no, the Dunn's are too proud to risk a Tyrell like that. Certainly not stupid," she said with a light laugh. "Even if some have a penchant for killing. I don't know who's worse, a deadly and dangerous man like that or the two Vale knights who came to my cell just wax their egos off of a conversation with me."

Alessia sighed, relaxing a bit as she sat to the floor. Finally accepting that little advice and taking a moment to ease her burden, "Today was a mess, but it could have been far worse. Despite angry men and their swords, only one more man had to die."

[Arwyn Forrester]

Her expression turned to genuine distaste at the comment about the knights. "Ugh, really? How uncouth." She shook her head. "It could have... I just wish we had a better idea of the whole picture. I guess that's what I'm trying to do right now. Maybe it's just flailing at nothing in an attempt to feel useful."

[Alessia]

"Perhaps you should speak with Maester Oswell, if you think this could have been something else? Might help," she shrugged lightly. "Might not. Maester Oswell, serving the Dunn's, knows a bit about Medicine and disease from how I hear he tells it. Could offer some insight into what you've gathered I think."

[Arwyn Forrester]

She nods slowly, then smiles a little at her. "Thank you, Alessia."

[Alessia]

"You can even tell him I sent you his way," she added with a little smirk. "That may be quite amusing for him. See how the girl from Braavos has met all sorts of types in her time here already."

[Arwyn Forrester]

"I just might." She chuckles a little. "By the way... Speaking of which, did you see anyone who could have gotten close enough to deliver poison? In his drink or anything else?"

[Alessia]

For a moment Alessia thought but ultimately shook her head.

"Nothing of the sort, not that I saw. Just those men who fitted him with a new spear for the next bout."

[Arwyn Forrester]

"All right..." She thought for a little while. Maybe... Then shook her head, smiling a little. "I think they're going to chase me out if I don't take off soon. It's getting a little late."
