The first jousts of the tournament were about to begin.
The sun shone down on the lists; positioned so the lanes ran north-south, the lists were designed to give both jousters an angle that kept the sun, no matter the time of day, out of their eyes. Now, with the sun up above, shadows leaned ever so slightly westward.
The crowd roared with applause as the jousters took to the field. Ser Androw Ashford, heir to the House Ashford, raised a hand, waving to the crowd and gave a wink to his sister as he waited for his challenger to appear.
