[D2 ME] Putting the Dornishman into the Dirty Dornishman

"It sounds like an adventure in waiting within." He lifts his cup for a drink. "I imagine that no matter where folks meet in the rest of the world, home always calls to them though."

[Warryn Wydman]

"Yeah... the Reach is lovely, though I must say, I miss home." He let out a breath, and drank. "Tell me, how is it serving the Kellingtons?"

[Davelyn Sand]

"It's an honor to be able to do so. I have not yet truly had a chance to prove my worth to the house, but I do hope to. I am a foreign night, bastard born, so I never expected that it would be easy to earn the respect of most. But that is what effort and patience is for."

[Warryn Wydman]

"I am sure that you will manage. You're skilled, honorable and determined." He raised his mug. "I look forward to House.... well, not Sand. You'll surprise me, I'm sure."

"That would be something," he says with a chuckle. "I wonder who will challenge Warryn Wydman at the lists?"

[Warryn Wydman]

"Aye, me too. Today was longer than I anticipated, I wonder who's going to be brave enough to come at me." He drank. "Perhaps a handsome Dornishman with a friendly smile?" He winked at Davelyn.

"If you're asking for it, I can come at you." He smiles at that. "But like I said, I think I'd prefer to stand beside a man of your caliber among the champions at the conclusion of the tourney. Perhaps we can get a hold of some lances and have a friendly bout?"

[Warryn Wydman]

"Well, going to leave you to how you feel." He smiled. "Looking at anyone in particular? The younger Ashford boy? Lord Tyrell?" He listed some of the names that would not cause time paradox yet.

"It all depends on who is present when I get my shot at the lists," he replies. "Can't know who all will be there when I give it a go. You better still be there though."

[Warryn Wydman]

"Too true." He smiled. "Today was exciting.... it's been years since I last rode. Well, about a year, I guess. Things have been hectic."

[Davelyn Sand]

"I don't go a day without riding. Usually more than once if I can," he says with a nod. "I spend more time with Qitam than any person I imagine. Couldn't imagine going that long with a good ride."

[Warryn Wydman]

"Well, I ride some, but not enough. Meant it more in the sense of jousting to be honest." He sighed. "You are attached to Qitam... which language is that, by the way?"

"He and I go back to when I was there for his birth. I helped his dam through the process and he has been with me ever since," he says with a nod. "And I got the name from a story I read once. It was the name of a thief that was supposed to have moved as swiftly and silently as a shadow. With his deep black color, he looked like a shadow, and so I named him for that character."

"A beautiful name. I don't think I've seen him yet... perhaps one of these days we could ride out a bit?" He asked curiously. It has been a while since he could ride for any longer period of time... except for the journey of course. "You read a lot books back in Dorne?"

"We can definitely go for a ride if you like. I'm more than happy to have you join me for one," he says with a nod, smiling happily at Warryn. "If you want I can even show you a bit about how to train your horse with a few tricks. I think my favorite... I have a specific whistle that Qitam knows. Whenever I give it he stops whatever he's doing, comes to me, nudges me on the shoulder, and whinnies as though he were speaking to me. Then he's got a few verbal cues when say them that he'll whinny or bray for. Let's me pretend to have a conversation with him. Really entertains children and some adults."

"As for reading... whenever I could. Spent time between training in the library. Aunt Avella made sure I knew how to read. I think she wanted me to use that skill to learn more. But I mostly used it to read stories about adventurers and knights and heroes long past, rather than about lineages or stewardship or houses. Knights riding to war in the name of honor is a much more entertaining read," he chuckles.

"Oh, sounds like some neat tricks. I'd be interested for sure."He smiled and rank as he listened. "Ha! I didn't read much, we have a small library and no Maester sadly, so it is not something I practiced often." He sighed. "It's something I sometimes regret, but well... it is how life works for now."

"If we had a library here at our disposal I wouldn't mind sharing time there either," he responds with a wide smile. He drinks heavily from his cup once more. But when he refreshes again it empties the bottle, so he flags down a servant for a new one.

"I wish I had better access to books. Was talking to a maester earlier... I'd love to see the citadel's library."

"If we had a library here at our disposal I wouldn't mind sharing time there either," he responds with a wide smile. He drinks heavily from his cup once more. But when he refreshes again it empties the bottle, so he flags down a servant for a new one.

"I wish I had better access to books. Was talking to a maester earlier... I'd love to see the citadel's library."

"Well, perhaps not the citadel, but we could use a larger library. Especially a measter of the healing arts would be appreciated sometimes..." He drank the last of his wine as he spoke, ordering another.

"It could be interesting, though."

"I think the only real chance of us getting into the Citadel library involves not having the lives and duties we have now," Davelyn replies with a chuckle. "I'm not quite ready for giving that up. I have more that I can do for this world where I am... at least I hope I do. And I know you do."

[Warryn Wydman]

"You forgot where we can dress up as serving women and sneak in." Replied Warryn solemnly. "You have a bright future ahead of you still."

[Davelyn Sand]

"Well, we can't know our futures. But I do intend to make the most of whatever challenges I face." He takes a swig. "And I don't think serving women are allowed in the citadel either. I think it's all guys in there. Well, if you don't got a lot of books there in Old Peake, what do you do for fun when you're not training or fighting off the mountain men?"

Warryn raised the cup and sloshed the wine in answer. "And eat of course..." He looked around, before leaning in. "When you've a good group of soldiers, tired from honest work, drunk on wine... you get some amazing songs."

"We Dornish do enjoy a good song. What do you got for me?" he says with a playful smile.

[Warryn Wydman]

"Well.. I'm not drunk enough for those." He took a gulp of wine, before smiling mischiveously "But I am drunk enough for something else. Have you heard about Marqus? You know.. No.... One...

Warryn looked around, to see how many joined him.

Davelyn had heard the songs sung the evening before and smiled at it being sung again. This time though he decided to join in after emptying his cup, jumping in at the second verse. When the song came to a close he laughed in good fun at it all.

"A fine choice. If that song's about the guy I met the other evening then I definitely remember him. Good fun!"
