One, Two, Three [Day 1, Mid-Evening]

[Alessia]

Marqus' was skilled, that much was clear from his strike. However, it wasn't perfect and the padding of the leather his sword came across would have kept her on her feet. That she knew. If this were a true fight, it would have to be ended now.

Surging forward she dashed aside his blade with her Braavosi blade, sliding in past his shield herself so that they were close and then placing her dagger up against his neck. Leaving it there, breathing in a bit heavily after all of the exertion of the day. Had he been wearing armor this all would have gone quite differently, of course, but right now she was pretty certain he had no play in his mind for this.

[Marqus Forrester]

"And that's why, you wear armour." Marqus chuckled, unwilling to risk injury to either of them in a sparring match stacked in her favour. "Nice speed, you win this round." He raised his sword in a salute.

"I'll stick to my mail, but there's no question you're good."

[Alessia]

Stepping away to a more conversational distance Alessia slid her sword back into place on her waist. Turning about she brushed her hair back with her now free hand as she spoke, "I'd wager a strike to the throat wouldn't have armor helping you much, milord."

"Good, but I need to be quicker on my feet if I'm going to fight someone like you milord. Overpowering me with a shield tends to work more often than I would like," she said, breathing light after the fight.

[Marqus Forrester]

He shrugged and pointed to his throat. "Helm and/or chain coif."

Marqus replaced his sword in its sheath. "There's no one ultimate style, everything is better or worse against one thing or other. Or context dependant."

Moving closer he offered the shield for her to look at. It was obviously wooden, but exquisitely crafted, and held the emblem of a white tree with a black sword in it on a black background.

"I'd like it to be less bloody hot so wearing armour all day felt like a good idea." A wry smile appeared briefly. "Normally I'm training with House's soldiers for open battle, so I'm grateful for the chance to work on fighting a duelist. It's good to try new scenarios."

[Davelyn Sand]

Davelyn clapped for the match, stepping back forward with a smile. "Very nice." And the mention of the coif and helm gets a nod.

[Alessia]

"You men are quite fond of the idea of your impervious armor," she said with a faint smirk, looking over his shield as he brought it forward.

"You may know your Westeros style well, but," she paused to pull her sword from her side once again and left it's point on display. "Had you had that coif I would have used this point, rather than my dagger. Everything has its weakness as you say but your armors is that you still need to be able to move."

[Davelyn Sand]

"It does slow you down, but everything has it's trade offs," he says with a nod. "One of the biggest benefits of armor is it can make those that aren't very well trained far more likely to survive battle."

[Marqus Forrester]

Marqus shrugged. "And your first strike would have been negated, and your point in the second might have gotten stuck in the chain rather than my throat. If you want to play whataboutery we can play all day."

He chuckled and then nodded at Davelyn's words. "Armour does slow us down, it's true. But we generally go in for mass battles not Braavosi duels, and in those cases you're going to get hit hard at some point." He pointed at her leather with a smile. "It's not like you aren't wearing some yourself."

[Davelyn Sand]

"Yes, and in a large battle you don't always know where that hit will come from. Nice to have some metal between your back and a sword," he agrees with a nod.

[Alessia]

Alessia raised her hands I'm near mock surrender, saying with a light laugh, "All I mean to point out, my lords, is that this blade you think your armor protects you from is quite good at getting into all of those places you don't want it getting into."

[Marqus Forrester]

Marqus laughed along with her, and nodded. "I'll drink to that. And I meant what I said, I'm grateful for the bout. You've got me thinking about defense against pointy blades now.". He seemed amiable enough about the whole thing.

[Davelyn Sand]

Davelyn chuckled at that too. "It is a very effective blade, and very dangerous. If I hadn't focused on the spear I'd likely have learned a more mobile style like yours. There are still some things I need to learn with the spear that add mobility as well."

"I am far from the master that some in Dorne are with it, and many of them move as quickly as you do. I have a great deal more to learn." He smiles at her with that.

[Alessia]

Slipping her blade back to her side she sought to depart, saying in finality, "Then I hope you both learn plenty, so that I might challenge you again when you are more prepared."

"Until then, milords," she said with a low Braavosi style bow.

[Marqus Forrester]

Marqus couldn't help but grin. "Yer on lass, that's what I'm here for." He gave her a short bow and started practicing some footwork.

[Davelyn Sand]

"Absolutely," Davelyn replies with a short wave. "Please enjoy the rest of your evening. I look forward to meeting you again."

[Alessia]

With nothing else, Alessia made a prompt exit from the field.
