Diplomatic Martial Minds (D2 MM)

[Davelyn Sand]

Davelyn leaves his pavilion after having cleaned up a bit from his earlier ride. He considers what he wants to do as he goes for a stroll, his mind on the later meeting and hoping it goes well.

[Ferris Cafferen]

A voice was heard from the other side of the tents

''Sit''

Then there was yapping

''Dusty, sit...Good boy!''

[Davelyn Sand]

Following the sound, he peeked around the tent to notice Ferris. "Ah. Good morning," he says with a wave, approaching.

[Ferris Cafferen]

The dornishman seemed to have stumbled in a training session. Upon hearing the approach, Ferris turned to meet him.

''Good morning to you as well'' he extended a hand

''I am not sure we have met, I am Ferris Cafferen''

[Davelyn Sand]

He moves to the man and grabs his hand for a friendly shake. "Ser Davelyn Sand. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. Doing some training eh?"

[Ferris Cafferen]

He took in a deep breath and eyed the energetic puppy

''Yes and the Gods knows he will need more it until he can be of use.''

[Davelyn Sand]

"I've yet to train a dog. I've broken a few horses and prepared them for riders. Started learning to do that when I was twelve. Maybe I should get a puppy myself," he says, pondering the possibility out loud. "What's this little one's name?"

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Dusty''

He smirked as he replied

''Are you a member of Lord Cedric's personnal guard?''

[Davelyn Sand]

He shakes his head. "No. Simply a knight sworn to his service. I've been with him for almost three years since I traveled from Dorne. How about yourself?"

[Ferris Cafferen]

''I am but a hunter of slightly higher birth then the average one'' he said with a smirk

''But it seems Lord Cedric deemed me worthy enough to sponsor me''

[Davelyn Sand]

"Then I'm sure you must be a very skilled hunter. Birth often has little to do with skill," he says with a smile. "I am sure that you've put in a great deal of effort to earn your skills."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''My father always used to say that there is no such thing as talent. Everything is earned throught labor''

He tilted his head but lowered his voice

''So...has our lord decided it was time to marry?''

[Davelyn Sand]

"He has. I've started to go about the business of finding ladies to introduce him to," he says with a nod. "I do hope that he can find someone that is a good match for him."

[Ferris Cafferen]

Oh hell

''Yes, lets hope he founds someone to complement him well. Has he seen anyone thus far.''

The Seven knows he needs someone with a good head on her shoulder

[Davelyn Sand]

"I've arranged for a lunch today with Lady Arwyn Forrester, between the day's lists and the squire's joust," he says. "Hopefully that will go well."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Arwyn Forrester?'' he scratched his beard

''I have no met her but I met her little cousin, Gwen''

[Davelyn Sand]

"And I haven't met Gwen," he replies with a nod. "You say little, and Arwyn is young, so I imagine that she is even more so."

[Ferris Cafferen]

He raise his hand to about four feet high

''She's about that tall...she can't be older then nine or ten''

[Davelyn Sand]

"A very little one then," he says with a chuckle. "Just at the age to be running around at tourneys and making trouble for her house like kids do."

[Ferris Cafferen]

"Quite true."

He took a breath

"What do we know of Lady Arwyn? Can we put much hope on her?"

[Davelyn Sand]

"She seems quite devoted to the idea of marrying in service to her family. She also seems to be an intelligent young woman, or at the least she did not seem unintelligent. She follows the Old Gods? Which I hadn't actually known was a thing until our conversation. But I guess following the old gods is a thing."

[Ferris Cafferen]

He nods

''I don't recall the Cragfort having a sept...so a chapel to the Old gods could be arranged.''

He looks over the puppy to be sure he as not ran somewhere

''If she as a bright mind then we might be blessed if she accepts...I am sure the serfs will welcome her gladly''

[Davelyn Sand]

"That is true. Though it's still early and they have not met. But a bright young woman like that will be in demand among the lords gathered here, for themselves or their sons. So we'll have to try to identify other potential matches as well," he says.

[Ferris Cafferen]

He frowned for a moment

''If I can help, I will...but I am no man of the courts. I will have some difficulty in helping.''

[Davelyn Sand]

"You and me both Ferris," Davelyn replies with a chuckle. "I am not cut out for this kind of thing either. But I will do my best."
