Day 3 M: Fishes to eat

[Ferris Cafferen]

The rain was getting heavy and Ferris knew it would only increase. He would have no luck with any tracking he would do but this was perfect fishing temperature.

He installed himself with an improvised fishing rod and scooped up some worms

''Lets see if anything bites''

Fishing day 3 M 11

[Desmond Terrick]

There was a boy and his dog who were also hoping to take advantage of the promising fishing weather. As they arrived with some fishing gear, Desmond called out to the stranger.

"Good morning!"

[Ferris Cafferen]

Ferris gave the boy a nod

''Good Morning. Nice day for fishing, is it not?"

[Desmond Terrick]

"Depends on the fish." he grinned. It was one of father's jokes. "My name is Desmond."

[Ferris Cafferen]

That statement earned an arched eyebrow. He did not seem to get the joke...not one from a child at least

"And I am Ferris Cafferen, a pleasure to meet you"

[Desmond Terrick]

He didn't get it either.

"Have you fished here before?" he asked. "I wonder what fish they have."

The boy set his line.

''I do wonder myself'' he said while adjusting the line once more

''It is the first time I come around here''

[Desmond Terrick]

"Me too." Desmond nodded. "This is kind of like the riverlands, though. Maybe the fish are the same."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''River fishes usually are I hear.''

he leans against a tree

''You are here for the tourney I suppose?''

[Desmond Terrick]

"Yeah." he nodded. "It's fun to watch. And, I'm supposed to learn about other houses."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Growing up to be a jouster yourself I would assume?'' he turned to look at the boy

[Desmond Terrick]

"I don't know." he shrugged. "It would be fun to try. Are you here for the tourney?"

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Kinda'' he replied

''I am no knight so I wait for the marsmanship competition...and the Hunt, should one be called''

[Desmond Terrick]

"There'll be a marksmanship competition?" he asked with clear interest.

[Ferris Cafferen]

''That is what I heard, yes...but it is only in a few days''

He played with his line for a moment

''Are you a marksman yourself?''

[Desmond Terrick]

He nodded. "I really like archery. I can't wait for that."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Good to know the competition then'' he said smiling

''What kind of bow do you use?''

[Desmond Terrick]

"I have a recurve father gave me." he answered. "I still like my old short bow, though. What do you use?"

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Either my longbow or my hunting bow...for different occasions''

[Desmond Terrick]

The boy nodded. "It's good to be used to different ones. Father says I train too much with Walder and not enough with the falcons."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Birds are excellent for hunting'' he confirms

''I've got a trained owl for that myself''

[Desmond Terrick]

"We have many falcons, and I've been learning a lot about them." he explained. "But, I'm used to hunting with Walder here."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''Hunting dogs aren't bad either...but an eye in the sky gives perspective''

He raised and eyebrow

''You dog is named Walder too?''

[Desmond Terrick]

"Yes. Is yours?" he asked. "Raptors are good for hunting, too. And, fishing."

[Ferris Cafferen]

''No, mine is named Dusty.'' he replied ''But I met a young girl who also had a dog named Walder''
