Swording around [D1 LA]

[Warryn Wydman]

Warryn shook his right hand, his long sword in it. It was important to get some stretching in before wading into combat, he knew from experience. He glanced around while making a few practice swings, old habits dying hard. The clansmen were dirty enough to use ambushes.

He sighed, and started on his exercises. While it would be good to have some fun, it wouldn't do good to become lazy and die back home.

[Davelyn Sand]

Another felt the need to work out a bit and practice. Had to burn off his lunch. The young man from Dorne steps into the square with a spear in hand and begins some basic stretches with it.

"Afternoon," he says to the other there, with a nod. "Ser Davelyn Sand, sworn knight of Cedric Kellington."

[Warryn Wydman]

Warryn eyed the other man up and down, before slashing an imaginary opponent. "Ser Warryn Wydman, heir to Old Peake. Well met."

He eyed his movements. He knew what was doing. There was a small smile playing on his lips.

[Davelyn Sand]

Davelyn watched Warryn's own movements, while he prepared himself for some practice. "Indeed, Ser Wydman. I see the build them strong up in Old Peake," he says with a nod. "What's it like up there?"

He starts with a few practice thrusts away from Warryn towards an invisible opponent.

[Warryn Wydman]

"My granddad was of a big stock. He had size to spare for the rest of us." He laughed lightly. He cracked his neck a bit, before thrusting forward. "Cooler than here. Lots of company though. Not the friendly kind. How is it in the.... Westerlands?" He frowned. He didn't quite recall the Kellingtons.

[Davelyn Sand]

"Stormlands," he says with a smile. "And they're stormy," he continues with a chuckle. "Actually, we've got our troubles, but like everyone we have to deal with them. But then, that's part of the reason for these big gatherings, no? See what the many families of the kingdoms can do for each other?"

[Warryn Wydman]

Warryn drew the sword back with a vicious strength. "Aye." He replied curtly, though not coldly, his mind preoccupied. "Not big troubles, I hope?"

He took a step back, and extended his hand, testing the blade.

"Sorry. Aye, stormy, not surprised." He frowned, looking the man up and down. "Wouldn't have took you for a Stormlander."

[Alessia]

Hands clasped over one another Alessia held to the top of a fence post, her right foot half way up the post to balance herself as she watched over the sparring grounds. It wasn't exactly the most comfortable but it gave her enough of a perch to see things from a slightly heightened perspective. Everything she owned was with her, a backpack laid beside her as well as having her leather and weapons worn.

[Davelyn Sand]

"Well, I am not a Stormlander," he says with a smile and a nod. "I was born and raised in Dorne among the Martells. But just as Jerome Kellington gave his life for Oberyn Martell, I decided to swear my life to Cedric Kellington. It could never make up for their loss, but I will do what I can to serve them. But even so, I'm still a Dornishman and that won't ever change."

[Kaelyn Dunn]

Exploring the Tourney grounds turned out to be a bit more than Kaelyn asked for. She found herself regretting leaving her horse and riding gear behind. That was when she saw her Falcon land next to a girl about her own age. She seemed to be watching two men sparring.

Not being the best with people but wanting even moreso to not be completely alone (save her brother) during the events, Kaelyn pursed her lips, gathered her courage, and decided to let Dahlia break the ice.

Walking up to the young woman, she curtsied, and then found herself unable to make eye contact. 'Win some, lose some, I guess.' "I hope my gyrfalcon here didn't startle you." Finding a bit more courage, she straightened her posture and finally looked up at the girl's face. "Are they any good?" she whispered.

[Warryn Wydman]

"Honorable of you." He gave a nod to the Dornish in respect. "It is good to see the Seven Kingdoms working together." He glanced towards the woman. "We have an audience it seems."

[Davelyn Sand]

"It would seem so," he says with a nod. "Want to go a few rounds and give them something more exciting than conversation to watch?"

[Alessia]

Having the falcon suddenly appear startled Alessia a bit, almost causing the woman to lose her grip on the post. Still, holding on and remaining raised as she was she settled. Looking over to the bird before it's owner arrived, speaking to it, "You are far too comfortable around people. That's either gonna get you killed or.."

That was when she heard the woman's steps, stopping before anything was overheard. After all, she wasn't alone anymore. Slipping off the post she turned to the woman for a moment. "Not at all," she lied, bold faced. "Not the most common occurance though, I admit.. never see a.. whatever you just called it."

"Anyway," she said, smiling a bit as the other woman found some courage. Looking back to the men in the square she answered, "They're ah.. pretty good if they intend to fight the air."

[Allard Terrick]

People could hear music getting closer and closer. Suddenly a man with a lute appeared.

A wandering minstrel? He could certainly pass as one. The man sat in a rock and started to play the lute while observing the two men sparring. He was a decent musician. He was also carrying a longsword and a dagger around his belt.

[Warryn Wydman]

"Well, it seems we have the music to accompany us." He smirked, then turned towards his opponent. "A friendly bout then?"

[Kaelyn Dunn]

Kaelyn smiled brightly at the young woman who seemed more agile than she could hope to be. She could only hope the gentlemen sparring did not overhear them poking fun.

She extended her leather corseted arm to her animal cohort who landed lightly at the invitation. "You can just call her Dahlia. She's a type of hunting falcon."

Kaelyn bowed her head slightly in greeting. "I'm Kaelyn Dunn. Have you been watching them long?" her eyes turning toward that sparring.

Noticing music, she glanced over at its source.

[Davelyn Sand]

"Sounds good," he says with a nod. He turns to Warryn, face to face, and readies his spear.

Giving Warryn a small signal letting him know he could start, Davelyn stood ready with his spear to receive him.

[Alessia]

Music was.. probably to be expected given the largeness of the event and yet...

"A pleasure to meet you and Dahlia milady," she said with a light smile. "Alessia is a name I hope you will be hearing much of in the future as it is mine. Looks as if they are about to start."

Turning about she grasped onto the post and pushed herself back up into the heightened position. Hoping for a good bout.

[Allard Terrick]

Waiting for the men to start the sparring, Allard tried to create the mood for a dance with his music. A sword dance.

He noticed the young ladies and offered them a respectful nod with his head as he played the lute.

[Kaelyn Dunn]

Kaelyn smiled and nodded back to the musician, adding the smallest curtsy. If nothing else, she was taught impeccable manners and this man seemed a gentleman. Music was something she did not excel at, but she admired those that could create it with ease.

She felt a bit awkward continuing to stand near Alessia even though their conversation had died off. She didn't know if she should stay or make her way to another vantage point. Perhaps she could get Dahlia to help her out by sending her to fly a bit further away as she watched the practice?

It was then that she noticed one of the men set to fight was likely Dornish. Perhaps she could use that as an ice-breaker after the match. Meeting two men at once seemed intimating, but she was here in part to meet bachelors.

[Warryn Wydman]

Warryn stepped forward, and started attacking. Alas, it seemed the Dornishman and his powerful thrusts were too much for the mountain Andal. He laughed good naturedly, and raised his hand after the third tap of the spear on his chest. There was some annoyance visible in his eyes, but he tried to hold it back. This won't do. I need to be better.

"Well won Ser Sand."

[Walder Rivers]

Walder made his entrance in a reserved manner, he entered the Sparring Square soon after Allard, waiting on the side and watching the two men spar. As they finished he clapped his sizable hands together in applause.
"Good match, good match... Yer riposte needs a bit a work lad, but ye did well." He gestured to Warryn as he spoke.

[Allard Terrick]

The 'minstrel' offered a smile to young lady that acknowledged him, but he didn't approach to where she was.

Allard finished his song just a few seconds after the men finished their bout. He gave them a nod, recognizing their martial talents. Then he continued with his music, playing another song.

[Warryn Wydman]

"Well, I'd work on the part where I put my sword through him first, Ser...?" Warryn continued smiling, though there was a small edge to it.

He gave a bow to the musician as well. "Thank you for the accompaniment."

[Walder Rivers]

"Walder. Walder Rivers." The older man smiled slightly. "A good defence is the best offence, is what I always say. But if you prefer attacking power well more power to you, lad."
